Have a look at this for some information. I've only used the white quinoa which they sell as dried in Sainsburys - which is lovely

Hi June,

I have tried the green quinoa and the brown one, and like both of those. I haven't tried the white one though, and now that Lucca10 has mentioned that one, I think I'll give it a go. I'm hoping to try making quinoa porridge sometimes soon, as that sounded really good.

Just remember to rinse it really well before you cook it, if it isn't pre-rinsed. It has a natural coating of saponin, which can make it taste bitter.

I have a medicinal herbal from the 1930s. It mentions quinoa, and in a nutshell says "it will never catch on"
