Hi Majorcagirl,

You just type the following, without spaces:

: - )

i.e. put colon : then hypen - and then closed bracket sign ) but don't leave any spaces between them when you do it,

Hence, putting them together, you get:

Oh I never knew how to do it like that. I downloaded an app called emoticon and added a keyboard to my iPhone in settings. Then you have a huge range of symbols😊❄️❤️🌬😁😴🎄👗👑etc. Not difficult to set up.

It's easier from a phone using emoticons like Florence says but you can also just do it with a colon and a closed bracket:

: )

Again type that without spaces in between. It will come out like this:

With emoticons you can also have a bit of fun too 🐙🌴 🍒

my phone is very basic so I can't do anything clever on it so I'll persevere with typing. as you mentioned emoticons (I use these on my emails) I think I'll leave that to others!

other things that work.

Always start with a colon, then ( = sad ) = smile P cheeky smile D = laugh

O = big eyes

lastly semi colon shift 0 = something like a wink

there are a few others but I cant remember them. hope this helps
