Teehee, I had a head start Tewson been cooking for 3 hours and was very tender. I am defo going to make more stews in my future as I am getting lots of compliments about that one :-) Butter beans (perfect)

Pressure cookers a great. I will cook mine in under 20 mins, when the wife gets home. :)

ps I'm changing my profile :D

It only takes 20 mins in pressure cooker, wow I don't have one of those. Maybe santa can bring me one for Christmas :-)

in reply to trafford1

Five minutes to come up to pressure and fifteen minutes cooking time. It means that stews can be cooked on the spur of the moment.

Hi Trafford1,

Your pork stew looks delicious! I love adding butter beans to dishes too - it really adds flavour, nutrients and thickens things. Tasty!

My meal tonight will be a mixture of veggies that need using up (some parsnips, brocolli, onions, and peppers) and some sweet potato chips roasted in the oven with olive oil, and a salmon steak sprinkled with Cajun spices. Should be tasty too. :-)

Enjoy your meal and your evening.

Lowcal :-)

Umm Lowcal, I truly enjoyed every bit of that stew and have some remaining for tomorrow. It was really nice :-) again your meal sounds just lovely especially with the salmon, veg and sweet potato's. I didn't know you can add Cajun to fish, that's a new one I must give a go. I use Dunn's river fish seasoning and the all purpose on mine and it tastes divine

Enjoy your meal tonight as well

Looks scrumptious 😋

Soul warming food, soul posting. I'd make it in the slow cooker and add paprika.

It looks delicious Trafford and if you want to ring the change some more, add chunks of apple :)

Thank you hun, I was going to add apple, then Tewson mentioned butter beans so I went with that. Apple would defo be nice in there though. Apple and pork go nice together :-)

I always put them together, I'm afraid I'm not a fan of butter beans :)

Neither was I until Lowcal mentioned these and I just has to try them because Lowcal likes them. I wouldn't have touched them before, but I have taken a liking to them and they are heathy hun :-)

I have tried them, but just don't like the texture of them. I could probably use kidney beans, or the like instead :)

trafford1 profile image
trafford1 in reply to moreless

Same here when I first tried them I was like yuck nasty and didn't like the texture, but this depends on what you have them with and the defo go in a stew. Kidney beans work just as well

Maybe I need to bite the bullet and try again :)

If you liquidise them in a soup, they might make a nicer texture that you'd enjoy more?

That's a good idea Lowcal, thanks for the tip :)

Pork and apple is delicious, although I only ever use the cooking apples, otherwise the dish can become too sweet. When using cooking apples, I also use a dry cider.

Lovely. I can't believe I'm still thinking about food. It must be the weather or something. :)

Good tip Tewson re the cooking apples, but I could never add cider to a dish.

in reply to trafford1

I won't tell you about the pork and apple cooked in a dutch oven on top of a bed of spring greens avec cider and double cream then :D

My belly is content tonight and I am full to the brim from eating that small bowl. Those butter beans really are a good filler and rich in protein, not fats, low calorie and are a healthy carb.
