Hi, I treat myself to my favourite low calorie snacks if I'm feeling deprived, I have always loved fruit and veg, but tried to eat seasonal and local to be 'eco', but now if I fancy asparagus from peru I have it! I'll save the world later! I can't move much for very long, but lost 4 stone over a year, by cutting out sugar, wheat [which I found I am intolerant to] and fat. It seems like there's nothing left to eat, I am vegetarian too, and restrict dairy! Find good low cal food you enjoy and INDULGE! Find substitute like Agave amber nectar sweetener, soya yogurt, porridge oats [a good comforting filler]

Think about what you CAN eat, be patient, results will come, oh, and stay off the scales until you feel you clothes loosening, you will get a lovely surprise. I started by counting calories, but don't need to now as this is my lifestyle and I know what and how much I should be eating. Good luck and be good to yourself.

What sort of pain? I sometimes get some discomfort in my shin when I've been walking really briskly for about 30 mins due to an old motorcycling injury, but I just slow down a bit. On scale of 1 to 10, 1 being 'can hardly feel it' and 10 being 'sheer agony, I'm about to pass out' - how painful is it? If seriously bad, see your doctor. If it is really just a niggling pain you think is linked to over-weight, just keep thinking how great it will be NOT to have that discomfort when you're a bit lighter.

Also check your deportment - are you holding yourself correctly? (shoulders fairly well back, abdomen slightly tensed, standing straight with your sternum nice and high check; it out on-line.)

Final tip, I listen to my ipod if I'm walking on my own - focusing on the music can take your mind off physical discomfort; I put on something with a good beat and often find myself striding along in time with it. But watch out when you're crossing roads!

Good luck.

Why are you in pain? Have you visited your doctor? Is it pain from walking or hunger pangs - which will pass if you have a hot drink and keep busy? I used to have pain in my knees but I lost three stone in six months and the pain went.

I hope that happens to me! I have fusion and chips out of my spine also a lot of movement in my vertabre. My knees are sore too as i am nursing my feet, -that plantor fissure thingy and cracked toes. I hope losing the weight helps.

Hi I found it helpful to think in terms of improving my health rather than looking slimmer. In that way when I was tempted by some high fat/sugar food I think about whether I would rather be healthy or have it. I think it's easier if you make your long term health your priority in those circumstances. Good luck

Please watch this video from BBC Horizon in 2012, "Eat, Fast and Live Longer" that aired in August 2012 It changed my life and it's changed so many others as well.vimeo.com/54089463

Many have said that various symptoms/ailments have disappeared as they've lost the weight.

I am following the NHS plan found on pages nhs.uk/livewell/weight-loss... It takes twelve weeks, I am on week 7 almost onto week 8. I'm losing weight by counting calories. My sister is using My Fitness Pal for calorie counting, I am using about Calorie Count. I think MFP is probably better, but big sis got there first! I have Rheumatoid arthritis so need to lead a healthier lifestyle to lose weight - but I also have reactive hypoglycaemia, which means I am having trouble to cut down on carbohydrates! Hope your journey is successful. M.
