When looking at food labels look for the Kcal amount. Often this is split into per 100g and per portion (like on a yoghurt). This kind of counting is fairly easy when you are having one thing like a yoghurt but it becomes more difficult with potions of packet or fresh food. My best advice would be get a set of scales that way you can measure our a portion of pasta etc and refer to the weight by Kcal on the packet to know how much you are having. This will also help with portion control so you can see what an average portion looks like.

It involves a bit of maths so if this is not a strong point I recommend My Fitness Pal which is both a website and an app. It has a large database of food and the calories and you can add them to you day's food. I have found it helps in planning meals in advance.

Hope this helps and lots of luck with it.

The app sounds like something I would use everyday! Thanks peerdiagnosis.com/how-to-ge...

I use nutracheck to calorie count as it has a uk database and is easy to use.

I am just about to stat the weight loss programme, but if you need to count out your calories, myfitnesspal does this for you. Just put in the product and it will tell you how many calories. Hope this helps and good luck.

I have enrolled onto weight watchers online as it is easier to track calories.
