I have had PCOS since I was 16, I was told I could never naturally conceive children and I would have irregular periods for most of my life. Today I found out I am 4 weeks pregnant, I did this naturally with no medication and no lifestyle changes.
I was always posting in support groups asking for advice on how to conceive, I was always told I needed to lose weight, change my diet and my lifestyle - I didn’t listen and chose to stay exactly how I was. And after a year and a half of trying to have a baby, I finally made it there. It’s still a long road to go but always remember there is hope guys! Never give up

I was told that 30 years ago, shows what rubbish that is but sadly the advice remains the same even though they know more about the condition (my son is 14!) - congratulations
It's usually 1 year of ttc with no luck for ladies up to 35 yo, and only half a year in their 35+ yo. Before infertility testing, your doctor or clinic works to understand your sexual habits and may make recommendations based on these. This was the first thing our dr at BTC gave her recommendations on. In some infertile couples, no specific cause is found (unexplained infertility). Infertility evaluation can be expensive, and sometimes involves uncomfortable procedures. Many medical plans may not reimburse the cost of fertility treatment. Finally, there's no guarantee - even after all the testing and counseling. That you'll get pregnant. This is the hardest though.
Male fertility requires that the testicles produce enough healthy sperm, and that the sperm is ejaculated effectively into the woman's vagina and travels to the egg. Tests for male infertility attempt to determine whether any of these processes are impaired.
Fertility for women relies on the ovaries releasing healthy eggs. Her reproductive tract must allow an egg to pass into her fallopian tubes and join with sperm for fertilization. The fertilized egg must travel to the uterus and implant in the lining. Tests for female infertility attempt to determine whether any of these processes are impaired.

I think doctors need to communicate better. There is a difference between you will struggle to conceive, compared to you will never conceive. They should say it could lead to infertility, not that it does. PCOS doesn't mean you will never have children, a lot of women have it. I was diagnosed at 25 with no periods, and now in my 30s it's cleared itself up and I'm 30 weeks pregnant.Either way congrats, hopefully your story stops other women worrying!
