Can I ask are some of you here for health reasons?
I have thyroid and other hormone issues with a history of ptsd style trauma response.
Wondering if whole food plant based really will do what it claims.
Will have a read through for inspiration, I feel conditioned to think this would be a tough move but also have read enough to know it’s probably worth it!

I became vegan for the animals and as a benefit from that going vegan stops my asophageal spasms.
I think the best think you can do is give it a go but I’m sure it wouldn’t do any harm. Everyone is different and what may work for one person may not for another,
Let us know how you get on.

Hi AnnaBeth
I became a Vegan for health reasons as I have IBS and someone on the IBS site had said she went Vegan and was so much better.
I have to say that initially I was so much better and could eat sweetcorn for the first time in a very long time. The reason I say initially is because only a couple of months later I had food poisoning from rice. I'd bought a lunch pot in the supermarket as a treat, I mainly make all my own food, and unfortunately that gave me food poisoning like I'd never had it before as it turned my IBS completely on its head and I ended up with diarrhoea and acute nausea for well over a year and I felt like this for most days.
Fast forward to 2020 and I'm under a Dietician and following the low fodmap diet and it's working brilliantly and fits in with my Vegan lifestyle. I can easily cycle 35 miles without any issue whatsoever (you will be able to search my posts on the Positive Wellbeing Forum and see the amount of walking and cycling that I've been doing). I'm never going back to meat, fish or dairy ever again. Yes, I became a Vegan for health reasons but now it's for the animals as well as I'm learning more and more about the amount of cruelty in the meat industry, even in the UK where people think we are a lot kinder.
I agree with Agoodenough in that it's best to give it a go as it won't do any harm but make sure you supplement with Vitamin B12, that's the only one Vegans don't get from their diets. Funnily enough the B12 in meat is synthetic, not natural.
Sorry for the long reply but I needed to explain that I'd had food poisoning hence it taking longer with me but initially very good.
