Any Personal Recommendations for β€œHealthy", Tasty, Non-Dairy 🚫 πŸ„ πŸ‘ 🐐 🦘 (Vegan) Cheeses? πŸ§€ 🐁

.

Nearly fell out of chair πŸ’Ί when (non-V), cheese-loving πŸ₯° loved one requested β€˜Vegan Cheese’ for sandwiches πŸ₯ͺ & wraps 🌯 !! 😳 πŸ™ƒ

[After popping eyeballs πŸ‘€ back into head πŸ™ˆ , I raise query here as I’m not familiar with non-dairy cheese πŸ§€ foods (β€˜transition’ cheeses).]

.

I’ll google research πŸ”Ž . But, in meantime, if you’ve ready recommendations at the tips of your fingers πŸ’… (or the tip of your tongue πŸ‘… ), I’d very much appreciate hearing about them. πŸ™ 😌

.

[I follow WFPB plant-based πŸ†˜ perspective (Dr. John McDougall, Dr. Michael Klaper, Dr. Michael Greger, T. Colin Campbell, Dr. Joel Fuhrman, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, Dr. Alan Goldhamer, et. al.), so the lower the [Salt Oil Sugar] the better. πŸ‘πŸ‘ ]

Thank you kindly, in advance, for any πŸ§€ recommendations you’d like to share.

☺️ πŸ™ πŸ€ 🌺 🌞

I wouldn't worry too much about the 'healthy' part of your question. Vegan cheese is likely to be relatively more healthy than non vegan simply because of the absence of animal fat and protein. But it's still likely to be high in fat and protein (even if it they do contain so-called good fats).

So if a vegan wants to eat cheese, I would say regard it as a treat to be enjoyed in small amounts, and go for it, but don't over indulge, and don't spend too much time trying to seek out the 'healthyist'.

[Am grateful πŸ™ they’re at least looking at non-dairy alternatives instead of animal dairy πŸ§€ . Am guessing (quietly hoping 🀫 🀞) they’ll eventually transition off β€˜faux’ πŸ§€ altogether. 🀞🀞 . . . All in good time πŸ•° . . . all in good time . . . πŸ“† . . . πŸ—“ . . . .☺️ πŸ™ πŸ€ 🌺 🌞 ]

Vegan cheeses are a new creation and I think it may take some years before truly superb ones appear. After all cow-based cheeses have had time to mature, in both senses. Afaik, or am I guessing a new vegan cheese is being launched every day.

Hopefully new πŸ§€ πŸ§€ πŸ§€ will improve in taste πŸ‘… (& nutrients πŸ’ͺ ) over time. 🀞🀞

[Just grateful πŸ™ those astonishing 😳 words ("I’d be willing to give vegan cheese a try") came out of the blue 🌈 πŸ”΅ β€” out of loved one’s mouth πŸ—£πŸ’¬ !! (Stunned 😯 . Shocked 😡. Mind-blown 🀯.) Hi Kai,

I’m not a huge fan of vegan cheese. I sometimes buy violife Parmesan type cheese but it’s not great and sometimes I think it even detracts from what you are putting it on, rather than adding to it. I have also tried cheddar style cheese with cranberries and that was okay for a change but again a bit disappointing.

There is still along way to go as far as vegan cheese is concerned. We just have to wait for someone to hit the jackpot 🎰 with the right combination of flavours! πŸ˜‹

I’ll have a look at your cheese links πŸ˜πŸ‘

Good to know, Agoodenough/ Ali. πŸ‘πŸ‘

Thank you for taking time to note/ share πŸ§€ experience. πŸ™ 😌

I’ll pass info πŸ“ along.

[If it serves as merely a temporary β€˜transition food’, that’s good enough!! I’d consider that β€˜winning a jackpot 🎰 β€˜ !! . . . πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚ . . . Just β€˜getting off’ animal dairy πŸ§€ would be a remarkable 1st step πŸ‘£ .]

After a while, don’t think we even think about πŸ€” πŸ’ (or desire 😍 ) πŸ§€ at all? πŸ€” πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

Getting over the (addictive) hump 〰️ seems hardest part (biggest struggle πŸ€Όβ€β™‚οΈ ) β€” taking the needed time πŸ•° πŸ“† πŸ—“ to try & patiently break πŸ§€ ⛏ through πŸ’₯ the addictive cycle ♻️ .

Thank you kindly, Ali. Much appreciated. ☺️ πŸ™ πŸ€ 🌺 🌞

[Aside: Have heard nutritional yeast flakes ( google.com/search?as_q=nutr... ) referred to as "vegan crack"! 😯 πŸ˜† πŸ˜‚ If that’s the case, perhaps that’s a better (β€˜healthier’ πŸ€— ) thing to get addicted to! 😁 (Imagining πŸ€” πŸ’ ✨ it now . . . jonesing 😰 πŸ’‰ πŸ₯Ί for some β€˜yeast flakes’ ( , ’ , ’ , ’ ), scoring some β€˜flakesβ€˜ behind the β€˜flake factory’ 🏭 , OD-ing 😡 πŸš‘ on B12 . . . 🀣 πŸ€ͺ πŸ™ƒ )]

Cheers, thanks Kai.

My eldest son went vegan.

But he has vitamin B12 deficiency now. So he didnt look after himself very well. Lots of good ideas here for him. Hope he's interested as it would help him to have a good vegan diet.

Just had a look on the website, pity not too much info on there sadly, but i shall ask my son Kai 😊

medicalnewstoday.com/articl...

Found this too! It is not suitable for everybody, if you suffer from mentioned health conditions in this article. Mine from Holland and Barrett is gluten free. . Anyway time for tea and flakes and heart meds again.

Very good to know. Much appreciated, 4️⃣4️⃣7️⃣5οΈβƒ£πŸ”Ÿ. πŸ‘πŸ‘

Noted from segment, Are there any risks? ( medicalnewstoday.com/articl... ):

. . ."Despite all the benefits that nutritional yeast may offer, this supplement is not suitable for everyone. Researchers have recommended that individuals with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), glaucoma, and hypertension avoid using nutritional yeast because it could make their symptoms worse.

People with a yeast sensitivity or allergy should also take care to avoid any exposure to nutritional yeast.

In addition, some researchers say that people with a higher risk of gout may want to avoid nutritional yeast."

Hm yes, you got to check it out to ensure its right for you as an individual. I shall see how it goes for me πŸ˜€

Its really nice in my Minestrone Soup, can recommed. 😊😁 glad i bought this today.

I've tried Asda's 'Free from' vegan cheese and its taste is acceptable, and works great in a toasted sandwich with rocket and beetroot! I have also tried the Koko dairy-free Cheddar but there's a prominent coconut odour/taste, so it's not for me.
