Day 6 of cellcept, after being taken off methotrexate and the aching calves are back. Still on 8mg pred, feeling nauseous, fatigued and rash is randomly occurring again. How long does cellcept take to ease the pain?

cellcept
Cellcept, or Mycophenolate Mofetil to give it its generic name, can take up to 3 months to start affecting the body. When I was switched to it my consultant adjusted my other drugs, to help give me cover until the Myco Mof dose had been going for long enough. For instance one option is to temporarily increase the steroids during the time. But such decisions have to be under a medic's control, normally a consultant.
Basically you may have quite a wait to feel better on the Cellcept.
Best wishes.
Cellcept has worked out excellently for me. I've been on it 11 years. I was put on it as methotrexate was affecting my liver. I was still on 40 mg pred at the time [yes, very high!]. Still, with cellcept, I was able to stay off prednisone after a two year, very slow, tapering. This week my rheum has started me on a very slow tapering of the cellcept. It does take a while to take effect, so try to be patient. Good luck with it!
I took cellcept adder my doctor decided that Aza wasn't working fast enough. For me, cellcept didn't work at all. It basically made my joint pain worse, along with pretty severe stomach pain from the drug toxicity. I took it for about three long months then switched to Aza for another year. It had then been two years without remission, so I received Rituximab. Here I am today 27 days remission. (Age:15, diagnosis Aug. 2014, MPA, HSP, igA nephropathy)
Hopefully it will work great for you, as if heard it does for others!!
