We are now moving to Norfolk and hope that my husband will be able to go back to be treated at Addenbrookes. Has anyone had any experience with other hospitals (like Norwich or James Paget at Lowestoft), in treating patients with Wegeners?

Hi Nadine99
I live about 10 minutes away from the Norfolk and Norwich but travel to Addenbrookes for my treatment., which will tell you most of what you want to know. If your husband is used to Addenbrookes he will find a very different culture at the N & N where they tend to treat the test results not the person. I believe they have a Vas clinic there which is run by three consultants from different departments. Two of these failed to diagnose my Vas on my long route to diagnosis. I wasn't invited to this clinic but was seen by renal registrars who didn't seem to have a great deal of knowledge of Vasculitis. I haven't any experience of the James Paget so can't really comment. I hope you have a great time living in Norfolk.
Best wishes jackie
Dear Nadine99,
Addenbrooke's Hospital is absolutely incredible- no really! I had a kidney transplant there, a year ago, and have been, and continue to be , under Dr Jane for vasculitis. Dr David Jane is also a consultant to both Vasculitis UK, and Health unlocked.
As regards the James Paget hospital, the only one that you mentioned that I have actually attended, I was there, as holiday patient, for dialysis- a couple of times. I was also 'rushed' there, having picked up a 'bug', whilst on holiday. On all these occasions the treatment, that I received, was also extremely good.
I don't know if this is any help to you Nadine, it is however the best that I can offer, sorry. Basically, if you can, do get referred to Addenbrooke's please do.
I wish you the very best and hope that you will stay in contact.
Kind regards AndrewT
I cannot criticise the N & N enough. I was blue lighted into A& E 13 times plus dozens of other consultant appointments before a young newly qualified Dr diagnosed me some 5 years on from start of symptoms.
I live 30 minutes away from N & N AND 2 hours away from Addenbrookes but its Addenbrookes every time for me!
No Brainer, Addenbrookes
