This was from Twitter this morning. Thought I would share it for those who maybe interested, It reminded me a little of The Tai Chi we did at the East Midlands Vasculitis Support Group Meeting.

For the first 5 years I had PMR it was not diagnosed (basically, my complaints were ignored) and I had to deal with it myself. I was lucky in that a local gym did a Mon-Fri daytime only card for £30/month and they catered in that time for the older users. I did an aqua class every day (at my level, another lady in the class had ME/CFS) which helped greatly with the stiffness, Pilates once a week and Iyengah yoga (postures) also once a week. The Pilates and yoga instructors were excellent, adapting things that were difficult or giving another option. I had to stop when the PMR suddenly got very bad combined with being unable to drive to the gym and a few months later we retired and moved abroad anyway. Now I am much better I would like to go again but there is nothing similar here - it would cost me about £50 a week to do the same amount. I miss it - I can recommend having a go. Any decent class instructor would let you have a trial. Don't give up too quickly though - because the difference in what you can do before and after a few months is mind boggling! The only cavil I would add is that the instructors MUST be qualified and preferably experienced in working with people with a musculoskeletal disorder - some things must be avoided.

When I found Pilates too strenuous(!) I started going to an Alexander Technique teacher/class. I really do recommend this as it is gentler, and easier to adapt to whatever capabilities you have at the time. I manage to do a few exercises every day, even if I'm in bed.
