Sorry to hear you are feeling overwhelmed by the heat, footlady, it is certainly hot right now and in modern houses there aren't many places you can get cooler!

I don't know, perhaps someone else does, whether the disease or the medication can make us super sensitive to the heat. Would it be worth consulting your GP or ringing your consultant? In the meantime, try all the cool you down tricks you can. Eg wear loose clothing of natural fabrics, take frequent cool showers, keep the curtains closed and the windows shut (as the continentals do) to keep out the heat during the day, invest in several large fans, lie down with wet flannels on both feet and direct the fan onto you, over the wet flannels. Keep physical activity low key and rest a lot with feet up. I find running cold water over both inner wrists for about 4 minutes works

wonders in cooling the blood running round my body.

I hope some of these ideas will help.

put a bowl of ice or cool water in front of the fan

[but be safety aware]

some people are wrapping ice-packs in a towel and using it to cool body parts.

It makes me physically sick too.

on the news it says that help & advice is being offered to the lderly, disabled and those with chronic illness - no-one has contacted me, has anyone been contacted?

I think I'll ask in a Q.

hope thursday is better for you,

sandra.

No, I have not been contacted either.

Nope I've not been contacted and I'd consider ourselves as being sick. But Im not feeling sick although Im a lot more sensitive to the heat than I've ever been. I try staying out but we do have to be careful as we're more prone to getting skin cancer as I've been told by consultant
