I'm in hospital with it at the minute. I was in agony with pains everwhere yesterday and had vomiting as well. They're checking for a bowel infection. I can't keep any food, fluids or drips in. I have always suffered with my bowel but not like this. I'd get it checked out if it's going on that long. If you're having it that much you won't be absorbing the nutrients properly.

So sorry to hear you are in hospital. I am now being referred to a gastro specialist to have it checked. Also being referred back to Addenbrookes.

Once you're being checked out that's the main thing. I hope you are feeling better soon.

Lots of antibiotics list diarrhoea as a side effect. Some people are lucky and the diarrhoea stops once their body gets used to the antibiotics, but some people need to change their meds. Might be worth checking your meds with the doctor too.

Hope you're both feeling better soon :)

Hi, Oh my word yes! I have had mine now for nearly 3 years, gastro did full tests as I had bleeding with it aswell, until I got my gastro appointment I just ate once a day at tea time so I could still get to work, my GP then added Loperamide (Imodium) into my prescription repeats and I find if I take one every other day it seems to keep everything reasonably under control, if I dont take it I never get out of the bathroom for more than 10 minutes because I have tried to taper it down to see what happened but I still have it and if I need it I increase when I get a flare as it goes straight to my tummy. Hope this helps x

Hi,

Had the same problem myself since Oct last year! Had Chemo an the antibiotics you have to take with it caused CDIFF. The have gave me other antibiotics to clear it but they didn't work. I've just recently been to see the Gastro Team who have done 2 examinations of the large intestine and can not find anything! So it's looking like they are putting it down to IBS which I know I have a mild sysptom of this anyway. So like you I'm taking Imodium every other day which helps. So until my nxt app in Sep I just have to see if it settles down good luck with your app with the Gastro team! Hope this has helped xxx

I've had bowel issues since Dec 2012. Some days are better than others but the bad days see me housebound and visiting the loo around 17 times a day.

Had a colonoscopy and they took 14 biopsies but didn't find anything.

I raised the issue with my GP and she suggested I take Imodium!?

I have my own suspicions about why it's happening. Too much sugar doesn't help and I'm sure being back on steroids doesn't either. However I really don't have a definitive answer.

mine was solely related to Leflunomide and when I came off that, although it has a long afterlife, it stopped.
