Wondering how far you drive for your clinical trial?

I'm very lucky that my local hospital is running my clinical trial and I only have a 20-25 minute drive. Just wondering if others have to commute far to get to their treatment/trial?

I drive 90+ minutes to review results every 3 weeks. Not so bad.

I drive 45 miles from Dumfries, VA to NIH, Bethesda, MD. I try to get an early morning appointment to beat the infamous DC commuter traffic, and usually leave home at 4:50 AM. I consider myself fortunate to live so close to such a great cancer treatment center.

I drive 3 hours, each way. The best time investment I've ever made.

I am lucky to live 45 minutes from NIH, Johns Hopkins and Georgetown University. I have done clinical trials at all three. It is a bit overwhelming, comparing all my options every time a treatment fails.

Thanks for sharing everyone! I'm sure we all feel that we'd travel as far as it takes to find the right treatment. Wishing everyone luck with their trials!

I drive eight hours from Little Rock to M D Anderson in Houston and back every eight weeks and feel I am very fortunate to be able to do so. I have been in a clinical trial with Zytiga for over six years and it has saved my life. My PSA has been undetectable after starting at 34.5 and the inconvenience of driving is nothing compared to the results I get.

I drove 275 miles (one-way) when I was in a trial. The logistics weren't horrible, though - My mom lives in a city that is an hour and a half from the trial site, so we would drive down the day before, stay with Mom, drive to the hospital the next morning, and drive home after my clinic visit was done. My mom was disappointed when I had to leave the trial, because it meant she wouldn't see me as often.

I flew from Asheville to Houston for a year. We drove several times and made the best of the 14 hour freeway driving. Do it again if I have to.
