Hi

My daughter has been on Sodium Cromoglycate for MCAS but has been told it’s not available as there is a distribution problem with it.Nothing else has worked for her and the pharmacy does not know if and when it will be available again.Does anyone know if it’s available anywhere

It's definitely available, I picked up a new prescription just last week. I've been getting it fine in Derbyshire Dales from Manor Pharmacy. They don't have it as a stock item, but just order it automatically when I put in my repeat. Usually takes 2 working days for the order to arrive.

If they say it's not available, make sure they are not just talking about it not being in stock. I don't see any reason they can't order it for you. The brand I've received recently is Somex Pharma 100 x 100 mg capsules. somexpharma.co.uk/_files/ug...

You can order online from Manor if there isn't one near you: manorpharmacyonline.co.uk

Another thing to check is that they are not trying to obtain Nalcrom as this version is no longer available. It needs to be ordered as Sodium Cromoglycate.

There is an update from August 2023 on the UK Masto site about Nalcrom. It has product codes for generic alternatives to share with your pharmacist: ukmasto.org/medication/nalc...

This NHS page may also be useful if you like more detal: services.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/dmd-... - make sure you scroll to the bottom for links to suppliers

Guessing the above could be useful for Ireland too.

Update: I just wanted to let you know that I received Nalcrom brand from my local Manor Pharmacy when I picked up my sodium cromoglicate 100mg oral capsules prescription on Friday 06 October.
