Hello, has anyone know what it means had UTI with culture result ‘Mixed moral urogenital flora present’? I have been struggling with chilled and fever for the past 3 days. The doctor put me amoxicillin for UTI. Love to heard if anyone experienced this urine culture result.

I've had many UTIs since my transplant (October 2019), including one that traveled to the new kidney, landing me back in the hospital for three days. That was the only one in which I was symptomatic. Several times the lab report has said "mixed flora bacteria," and it was implied that it was not a clean catch, which is most certainly was! I've also had several strains that stumped my PCP so now have the Infectious Disease folks on my team. After the fourth infection in 6 months, they put me on Macrobid to prevent more and I haven't had one in over a year!

Anyway, my first thought was that "moral" must be a typo, but I Googled it and the only hit that had all four words was an array of photos. I may know a lot about UTIs but not thru the microscope! Several articles said it was unusual to truly have a mixed flora infection from a truly clean catch. But I've done this enough times before to know how to get a valid sample. The ID people are much more understanding and supportive in that regard.

At this point my best suggestion is to ask someone on your team what it means. And then post the answer here! I'm sure others would like to know, as well. And I sure hope you're feeling better by now! Best wishes.
