In my opinion I suffered from ME-type symptoms in the 1980s for manyb years and ended up almost being more or less house-bound but that w3as mostly panic attacks arising from my illnness

Nobody would agree that it was ME or CFS-related but then again they couldn't tell me WHAT it was

I was, at that time, greatly abusing my body and leading an incredibly unhealthy lifestyle. To put iotdelicately (as their is no adult site on here) it was things the doctor didn't prescribe but anything to get out of the TS hell I was going through at the time

Eventually, afetr the ME/CFS stuff had abated I went on a highly-reccomended course of stress management with Occupational Therapists through GP referral and after eight weeks I was more o5r less 'cured' of the panic attacks which, I am sure, also helped with the other stuff and also gave me the confidence I never really had beforehand..........and so here I am now, the elder statesman passing on my words of wisdom for what they are worth, to thiose less-fortunate than me and who are going through, or about to go through, what I have endured and survived

There is ALWAYS light at the end of ther tunnel

As my grandad wrote during the war: it may go on for years and years, but it can't go on for ever!

Thanks Nomad, I`m sorry to hear you had such an awful time. My ME/CFS symptoms (which started around 1998) consisted of painful flu-like symptoms and terrible weakness in my limbs and brain fog which some days made me housebound. I`m glad to say that after taking some herbal tincture called SAMENTO for about 2 years I started making a recovery which I think is ongoing though I still have to pace myself or I`ll get a minor flare-up of the symptoms.

It is only since about 2 years I`ve been diagnosed with TS though having the symptoms since my youth. I`ve retired now. I`ve had symptoms of anxiety and depression on and off for the last 15 years mainly caused by stress and this exacerbates mild OCD symptoms concerning contamination. I am on the SSRI Citalopram which is making me gain weight which is possibly the cause of me being glucose intolerant.

Does anyone know if SSRIs cause more problems specifically to people with TS?
