Stay active or not?

Seems my mountain biking and bodyboarding are increasing the ringing intensity in both ears even though I wear custom ACS earplugs for both. Intensity remains regardless and hasn't subsided after over 10 years of habituation. Did have a not so nice dental cleaning experience and a recent few weeks of the flu virus this year too. Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks

It's a good question. For me? Yes, definitely stay active. I did get scared initially of my mountain biking, running and walking - fearing it made my T worse but actually - do you know what? - it's a straight cost/ benefit calculation.

Maybe it does but I don't care - the benefit of getting out on my bike and giving some trails hell outweighs a little increase in my T. It's only tempoary anyway, alongside increased heart rate, etc and the T always falls back to "normal" levels after a rest.

The phychological benefits of exercise are enormous and what's the alternative? - sit in a darkened room for the rest of my life. No thanks.

So get out there, pedal like mad like there's nothing wrong.

See you out on the trails.

hi out of curiosity why do you wear earplugs mountain biking? For me outdoors activity is the best distraction and temporary cure. Sadly last year I fell off my mountain bike twice so lost some confidence, I need to get back out again! T will never get better sadly, it’s just a case of being motivated to overcome it with healthy distractions. Good luck!

I wear the earplugs whilst on the road but not when on the trails. Such a flare up after doing so well over the years has just left me wondering why, as most do I guess.

Hiya

Carry on cycling, don't let it beat you.

I use sound therapy afterwards to calm it down, I get the same as you - especially with high heart rate and when I'm on my way home tired. High traffic noise triggers my tinnitus, so I put in earplugs when Im going on the road (they reduce sound levels, not completely block noise) and take them out when I'm on trail!
