Hard to describe but I've had it for a while in my left ear where I make circles on the ear where the jaw is. So the bit of skin that is on the face right next to the ear. I can hear/sense stuff inside, like wax or mucus maybe. The right ear doesn't do it and doesn't ring either, just the left. I did have my ears cleansed of wax last year and I was told I had mucus behind there. I've had the squishy build up feeling/noise, can feel it through my fingers for a while. Not acted on anything though as recently I'm in a better place with my tinnitus.
I want to possibly try a saline rinse at some point or get the wax out again but I don't want to rock the boat at the moment! I have a new mouthguard for my jaw problem I wear at night and I listen to the noise of air con while sleeping.
Has anyone else experienced this feeling inside of the ear or had success with saline rinse or mucus issues? I am prone to allergies and whenever I exercise or shower there is usually 'healthy' mucus but there is always mucus.
Thanks!

Hi, yes I get fluid build up behind the ear drum, they call it Eustacian tube dysfunction. I then get louder tinnitus due to the pressure build up. My GP told me to wash out nose sinuses with Sterimar Congestion spray, then follow that with Vicks Soother spray, works for me. Hx
Thanks for the reply. Yeah it's an odd one because the lady who cleaned out my ears and was the most helpful person I spoke to said she could see mucus behind the ear drum and I tried a nasal spray but didn't do much. The ENT a few months later was useless and said there was no mucus but he just wanted me out of the room and was the least helpful, motionless soul I've met 😅. I get occasional popping in both ears when swallowing or eating or it can be random. I haven't been diagnosed with ETD but I did suspect it. Do your ears pop too?
Hi JennoBSounds very similar to what I experience occasionally, made me concerned at first but because it does go away I decided as you say "not to rock the boat' . I'm worried if I do anything about it that it may cause more problems.s to my Tinnitus and I certainly di not want that. Possibly in the future I may have to but until then I shall leave it as it is. As well as a squishy sound I sometimes have a sort of squeaky sound and it feels as though my neck needs oiling, Not acrual pain but not at all nice. All the best to you.
Hi Rob, yes I understand where you're coming from. I feel I'm currently in a much better place than I was a couple of months/even weeks ago. I too have experienced the squeeking, sometimes when moving my jaw a small amount. Very random. My T has never gone away, it's constant. Background noise, being outside and generally out and about I never hear it so maybe I'm lucky in that sense. It has quietened over the past month, not sure why. I sometimes hear it over the TV. Never when the football is on, hurray! All the best
