Clonazepam Research

I am on Clonazepam 0.5mg a day, it helps a lot & I get much better sleep & 8 Hrs of decent sleep a night. My tinnitus is the same noise level so far and I am hoping for it to eventually calm the brain down a little bit more. Is anyone else on Clonazepam & noticing a big difference to their own tinnitus noise level & on a stronger dosage per day ? As I am due to speak to the Doctors again & to maybe start doing a stronger dosage to see if that makes a bigger difference to the tinnitus, but, I don't want to be so drowsy, I can't do anything.

I’m also on that. It also helps me to sleep. I was told it would interfere with habituation due to being a benzodiazepine. But you got to sleep

Hi Dazza, I use Clonazepam, however not on a daily basis. I take 0.5-1mg for 1-3 days then STOP. I have done this for just over 2 years. It normally (but not always) reduces the tinnitus in 3, 12 or 24 hours. I get a slightly better effect by combining with Gabapentin. How long have you been on the Clonazepam? You did well to get it prescribed in the UK, was it by a GP?

Yes, my GP Prescribed it, I have quite a decent Doctors Surgery, so within reason they have been quite helpful in letting me try different meds to see what can make a difference. I was going to ask about Gabapentin as well, as I have read it also works well for some people, trying to target certain areas of the brain. What strength of Gabapentin are you on ?

I have been taking Clonazepam for 3-4 weeks, so far at 0.5mg a day, it helps me sleep better, but, no real difference to the Tinnitus noise level when I am awake or in the day, that is why I was thinking of going up in dosage to 1mg and to see what that does, I have read some people take 1-2mg a day for other reasons & not tinnitus.

Clonazepam seems to be recommended a lot by ENT Consultants, if I read some things of Google, so it must make some difference to some people at some point.

Not on clonazepam but after i got tinnitus i took mirtazapine. It completely muted the tinnitus and i slept like a baby. Unfortunately the muting effect went away in like 1 month.

I am also on Mirtazapine 30mg to help me sleep have been on it for 6 Months, it done nothing to the tinnitus level at all, it helped me sleep a little bit, but, I have just added Clonazepam as well & it helps me sleep much better, but, my tinnitus is the same level & it is near impossible to mask it often.

Gabapentin 3-600mg/d so low dose. Does little for tinnitus but helps stress. I want to add a low dose of Nortriptyline. I have tapered the mirtazapine down from 30mg to 22.5mg, with the plan to go right down to 15mg so I can add Nortriptyline. 18 months ago I had a meeting with Dirk De Ridder who suggested a low dose cocktail is preferable to 1 medication at high doses. His reason was that tinnitus involves many different neurotransmitters.
