Hello folks.

i’ve had T and off for years after being a DJ and being in various samba groups.

it got bad after a very stressful emotional period of a year or so - constant fight or flight status, bad sleep etc - and facial pain . Crap really… but what finally really helped was listening to peoples positive stories on podcasts and YouTube, along with meditation - you have to do it for quite a long time but it totally helps.

from reading a lot about this condition it seems more to be about the brain interpretation about noise - warning, possible danger ; I must focus as on this as it’s obviously v important, therefore homing in on it all the time makes it worse .

easy to say stop worrying ! But over time it does get easier. Also trying to reason out why it’s sometimes louder seems impossible - distraction, music, different surroundings, exercise, paying attention to diet all vital stuff .

anyway that’s me, not saying it’s the same for everyone !

try this brill app by Julian Cowen Hill - Quieten. It and his advice has helped me massively. Also Dr Ben on YouTube. Amazing people!

thank you for this. Your paragraph “ from reading a lot about this condition it seems more to be about the brain interpretation about noise - warning, possible danger ; I must focus as on this as it’s obviously v important, therefore homing in on it all the time makes it worse“. is completely spot on. In a nutshell.

It’s getting the brain to understand this that can be challenging

yep, it is! I think it’s a long process from listening to people like Julian C Hill , up and down, great days , crappy days. Yesterday mine was v full on, this morning much less, no idea why but I’ll take the good days with pleasure!

Hi, am pleased you have discovered JCH and i always urge people to look him up, you can also ask him questions in his zoom meetings if you have his app, its all about the nervous system going as i put it into overdrive and our hearing has ramped up so we are picking up all our internal noises that we wouldn't normally hear.

Interestingly, I went to see the E N T person yesterday who was v helpful re hearing generally but Tinnitus - you know there’s nothing that can be done, right? Really sad as that can make the issue so much worse.

There’s no interest in anything ‘alternative’ that involves no drug sales…

Incredibly sad...when you read JCH book he was told the same just like the majority of us..it nearly finished him off...he has written to ENT to explain his own story, as a body they are woefully lacking in helping people understand T - i was just given statistics of how many people have it - so very unhelpful, which is why i do try to point people in JCH direction.
