I have heard some positive things about Tinearity and decided to give it a try a few month ago.

But unfortunately I'm very disappointed, I've been using it for 3 months now and my tinnitus has gotten WORSE! So dont buy it.

Hi Tinnitus10

Thank you for letting us know about your experience with this tinnitus therapy product.

My understanding is that the Tinearity G1 is intended to offer a discrete way to to use white noise during the day without having a wear an ear-mounted unit, like a tinnitus masking device.

What were the particular issues that you identified with your experience of tinnitus?

white noise is available for free from apps. Long term use should be avoided as a treatment for tinnitus. It will damage your auditory system according to US research.

A review of Tinearity G1 by Ben Thompson Treble Health is now available on You Tube.

Beauvoir46, could you share the US research which you say demonstrates that white noise damages the auditory system? Thank you in advance.

Journal of the American Medical Association 2018. Possibly still with Open Access.

Difficult to give an opinion without access to the content, but I'd generally say that this clinical opinion isn't reinventing the wheel. It's also from 2018, so the mood in audiology could well have shifted during the ensuing years.

Any therapy might become a crutch or a patient might develop an attachment to it if they're not also getting other forms of support - the assertion seems not to be that white noise damages the auditory system but that it may lead to maladaptive coping strategies developing if it's used in preference to any other treatment option.

That would be advice that many audiologists would offer generally - one of our own online support groups mentioned this last week when I attended, as a matter of interest.
