Hi. I live with Tinnitus. I am lucky I have become used to it. Sometimes it can sound as if I have the Halle orchestra playing in my ears, a cacophony of 3 or 4 different sounds, pitches, volumes etc but that's okay. What really freaks me out is that suddenly completely out of no where I experience a nano second of complete silence. Its really weird but I know it happens. All buzzing, vibration, & sounds stop but just for that nano second. Any thoughts?
A nano second of silence: Hi. I live with... - Tinnitus UK
A nano second of silence
Hi i’ve experienced the nano silence once! I took it as a positive in that its still technically possible for me to experience silence. Eventually I’m sure that the chemical switch that gave me and you a brief view of silence will be discovered and tinnitus UK will be out of business! 😄
Yes, it’s a weird hiatus. Not just silence but occasionally really rapid changes in tone, as if the mechanism or neurological switch is pausing, preparing to produce a different pitch or even, hopefully, nothing at all. At the same time its accompanied by a fleeting change in pressure, somewhere in the region around my left ear; all of these things occur in the blink of an eye - before settling back into its familiar, predictable high pitched sound. It’s a positive I suppose, as ‘bournville’ in one reply suggests, but at the same time because it’s unknown, a little scary. Thanks for mentioning it.
