New to tinnitus: Hi, so i'm struggling and would... - Tinnitus UK
New to tinnitus
hello littleana- if you are new to tinnitus it can, indeed be a struggle. I have three starting thoughts for you.
Firstly, go to the website of Tinnitus UK if you have not done so already. Lots of information there.
Secondly, go down this page till you find a post from Bellyboo about eight days ago. You’ll see how that poster got used to T.
And last of all, do NOT believe any advertisement promising a “cure”. They are just after your money
I wish you well, and when youve absorbed all this do come back to us here.
Hi Happyrosie, i have been struggling a lot and also with pain combined. I started having random ringing ear after covid but it didn't stayed, till the noise exposure on 9/12/2023 (btw i had ear protection) My ringing didn't stopped. I went on prednison didn't finish (made my life absolute hell and my T worse) But i still gained sum of my hearing. Are u familiar with something like this??? I have checked the page Thanks a lot and aso the post of Bellyboo! I wish u also well Happyrosie, i feel less alone on this forum.
What Happyrosie says is absolutely correct. Whilst Tinnitus can rarely be a sign of any worse underlying conditions, if you haven't done so already, visit your GP and get a ENT referral, to rule anything out; for you piece of mind as much as anything else.
Read up and understand what it is. In particular, try to get to know your tinnitus. In my experience trying to completely ignore it just makes it worse (or perceived as worse). Accept their will be spikes, and stress will make it worse and worse it gets the more you'll stress
Provided anything serious has been ruled-out, remember it's just noise.
daverussell noise is used as a form of torture. How can tinnitus be dismissed as just noise?
I have good days and bad days, and many 'torturous' sleepless nights. We cant let it get the better of us.
When you say 'good days' does that mean your T is lower or that it isn't bothering you as much?
It's about how much it bothers me which is dependent on other factors. Stress, in particular, can be a vicious circle which in turn can depend on workload, sleep (or lack of) and the exposure to noisy environments and listening fatigue. It's not about the spikes, though they like to serve as a reminder in the moments I'm not thinking about it
