Hi is anyone able to recommend a private tinnitus specialist they may have seen in the london area? I’m struggling to get enough support from NHS and would like to find someone who can support me with managing the condition. Thanks

Hi P2023, I used Audiological Science, based in Harley Street. I cant speak for all the audiologists there but the lady i saw, Dr Gladys has now moved on from there and set her own practice up here. drgladys.co.uk/ I would highly recommend her, she was excellent in helping me with my Tinnitus and Hyperacusis.

Hi P2023

Can I echo Darren6: I got great treatment from Dr Gladys at Audiological Science. Her replacement also ok. Private = expensive though. I think Dr Gladys now operates from Essex.

I don't recommend them. Anywhere but there.

Did u try Nhs audiology? I also wonder how private experiences are?

Yes I tried NHS. They have offered me no help or support. Just left me to deal with it on my own. Didn’t even offer CBT or anything

Laurence McKenna London NHS but also private. Uses a tried and tested approach to the problem & made a huge difference to psychological impact of my tinnitus.

If looking for hearing aids and sound therapy approach then perhaps try Dr Gladys Recommended by Darren6 above

Do both if possible? Sound therapy and psychological seems to be the best of both worlds.

I can also add that I have heard good things about Laurence McKenna. He also has written a very good book on living with tinnitus and hyperacusis.

Henri who runs iamear.co.uk/about/ is very good, she has also been a support group leader for Tinnitus UK

Hi there. I visited Hearology in Victoria to have my ears suctioned and part of it was to then have a follow up hearing test. The person I saw for the test was Micaela Stonestreet and she was very good at taking me through the issues tinnitus was giving me and it has helped me to cope with it so much better.

hello

I would google the counselling directory as I know there is someone on there who can help.

It’s worth exploring….

Just go to advanced search on the directory and put in tinnitus and hyperacusis

Hope this helps
