Typewriter tinnitus or Middle Ear Myoclonus?

Hi all,

I had a clicking start in my left ear 5 months ago. At first it was just a click, and there was a feeling to it too. At times it could sting my ear. Then one night, I got a bombardment of lighter clicks in the ear, that went on for a near minute. Over time the these clicks have become more frequent, and in the past two days, are now continuous, only occasionally I get a few minutes respite. I also have tinnitus in the ear, plus loss of hearing, but the clicks sound like they are next to a microphone. There is always a fullness in my ear too.

I'm waiting to see a ENT specialist, in the mean time I've been looking online to find out more info on the condition, and I've found it's probably either Middle Ear Myoclonus or Typewriter tinnitus.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? And how do you cope?! Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, if you have typewriter tinnitus then Carbamazepine is the gold standard treatment.
