Spike after dentist or permanent?

I went to the dentist the other day for a hygienist appointment.

I took my earplugs as I knew the devices could be quite loud.

The dentist did tell me that it could still be fairly loud as the sound of the water jet can travel through my bone and through too much ears.

I didn't think much of this and said it would be fine.

Well, at points, it felt VERY loud/high pitched ( As in it was all I could hear at some points)

I also have Hyperacusis which the drill really hit the sweet spot for which didn't help.

I'd say the bits where the LOUD parts went through to my ear were only seconds at a time however it was very overpowering and piercing for those seconds.

Anyway, that was 7 days ago and feel as though it spiked my T in intensity and changed the sounds somewhat.

I am stressing that I've permanently damaged my ears and raised my T when before I was habituated pretty much and living a normal life.

Now I feel that stress I had when it first came on and I'm really hoping it goes back to the baseline it was before....

I see the dentist and hygienist every six months. I always get a scale and polish, and the sounds of the machine has never affected my tinnitus.

Hi Chester . My T usually spikes after a scale & polish - even with earmuffs - but it always settles within a week or two. Hopefully yours will too.
