anyone been dealing with sound distortion during a spike ?

im hearing more static and ringing when i hear anything (fan , tv , music , car) it might be hyperacusis or sensitivity thats distorting it...

i was in the gym and all i could hear was a drum while i was trying to do a dead lift 😂 tinnitus is such a jerk and hyperacusis always keeps it interesting

hey there, check into reading about Eustachian tube dysfunction. I treat these issues with Flonase and acupuncture. I recommend avoiding Benedryl and nasal decongestants. Once you get your E tubes regulated, these sorts of issues should abate.

Having Eustacian tube dysfunction, are you able to pop your ears .?

yeah i can pop my ears all the time....im not saying its not a problem with the ETD...but when i first got tinnitus like 8 years ago...i dealt with sound distortion too and i cant remember what i did to get rid of it...i think its to do with stress and anxiety...i know i have noise sensativity right now due to a highened stress response to my tinnitus and hyperacusis spiking...i mean i may be so tense that the muscles are pressing on the ETD i guess, or its the stress thats messing with the air pressure in my middle ear...its such a circle to what it could be....the reactive tinnitus its giving me right now is driving me nuts ..i want to get back to watching my tv shows without having a fog horn in my head 🤔

I also miss how my life was before the onset of tinnitus. 🙏

I can’t pop my ears, ENT diagnosed me with closed eustacian tubes , due to this closeness. I have also been diagnosed with TMJ , temporo mandibular joint disorder. That can give you pain in your jaw and tinnitus.

I dont have any pain but stifness in my jaw.The result is a constant very, very loud tinnitus 24/7 , Hyperacusis , only to low frequency noise.

But I think tinnitus has many reasons , I have given up to understand this disorder. It has its own life,

You can watch TMJ exercises on you tube. If you are lucky , maybe it can help you.

I get this too, I can’t watch tv anymore because of the sound distortion.

Hi, has this improved any? I think I’m having the same issue.

Well, I still don’t watch the TV, I don’t have one anymore but I can listen to my iPad, the sound quality is much better. 😊

yes I pop mine too. But the dysfunction causes more serious pressure that isn’t relieved by popping. It’s my belief that Flonase and acupuncture reduce the swelling and therefore that awful distortion and sensitivity.

i get acupuncher ever week and cupping...does nothing to help my tinnitus but i love coming away from the session with suction cup marks on my back lol ive done it all ear candling , osteo paths , reflexology etc ...list goes on, im really starting to believe tinnitus is a miss firing single from the brain as a stress response and all the ETD probles are because of this...the ear bones and muscles tensing up etc...thats just my though, i bounce ideas off my audiologist head every 3 months for the past 9 years now...noone truly knows what causes it...but its a bugger to live with sometimes, keep doing what sooths you...accupuncher and massage i say

good on you for trying all the different modalities . I will say that not every acupuncturist I have visited has been able to treat the sound distortion and sensitivity. There are particular points they use where they insert the needles when the jaw is open. General acupuncture didn’t help me but the special points cleared it up right away.

i have seen 3 and they did nothing for me...i have had acu 24x in the last 2 years....does nothing, i think my sound distortion is reactive tinnitus which might have came on from out of stress...its not my station tubes i know that for sure

I think mine’s Eustachian tube dysfunction. Feels as though my ear’s full. 😣

0 that’s just the worst feeling. The only thing that brings me any relief is acupuncture as I’ve written. But the doctor Hass to be very knowledgeable about how to treat this condition and I’ve only found two in my life who knew what to do.

Hi, I also have this feeling. Do you have it all of the time?

No, not all of the time. I don’t have it now.
