Cervical Tinnitus

Hi, I'm new here and after suffering from the above for the last four years without any success in finding treatment, I'd like to see if there is anyone else out there with the same diagnosis. Essentially I have a compressed C2/C3 cervical neck joint that has brought about the constant ringing in my head - bit like a grasshopper sound/pitch. Its pretty consistent and is not getting any better. Anyone experiencing the same or similar and what have they found to help? Thanks in advance.

mine is similar sound and not getting better. I have vertebrae issues in my neck as well , but no pain - do you have neck pain at those cervical points. I havent had diagnosis of this causing the T, as my T came on after head bump, but it could be related

Hi Suz, Yes I had pain for some time due to a very slight scoliosis of the spine that upset the neck, and over time the pain developed.

so do u have to take painkillers everyday for this pain? Is yr T bothersome as well or can u manage the T

Occasional over the counter pain killers; but I had denervation at C2/C3 facet joint and this seems to have worked so far. However since the procedure the T has become worse.

How interesting I had nerve denervation and for around 2 days afterwards my T developed. This went away and I had 4 years without any systems . Then my T came back and there constantly .

I have neck pain and a narrowing between c5-c7. The hospital told me this is not related to my tinnitus though. I find this hard to believe as my tinnitus got worse which coincided with my neck pain. I can also change the tone and volume when I manipulate my neck in certain positions.

It sounds like you have something similar to me.....

Did the hospital tell you why they feel it's not related to the tinnitus? I think I may have something similar because when my neck 'snaps', the frequency changes.

no they just said it wasn’t related. I also explained this to the tinnitus specialist at the hospital and she said it was probably due to altering the blood flow. I don’t believe this either. I think my neck pain is affecting the nerves which are causing the tinnitus. I think it’s either trigeminal or occipital nerves that are damaged.
