I don't know, mine doesn't increase while watching TV. However, it increases significantly when I am in a car and when I am in a supermarket....??

Same problem- my thoughts on this are that flat screen televisions have tiny speakers that naturally accentuate the harsh high and mid frequencies which irritate my tinnitus. I bought a decent sound bar that bypasses the tv speakers and that helps. Try listening to a couple of rock or pop songs over your smartphone speakers (the ultimate in harsh sound quality) if that sends your tinnitus up then you have your answer. Also listen quieter if possible.

Here’s a link to the soundbar I have

I agree soundbar quality is much improved, and adjustable, I`m off to buy one tomorrow!

I think it`s because you strain to hear the tv, in my case because of hearing loss, so the T seems louder as well? Hearing aids help me a lot, i seem to hear more tv sound and less whistling.

Hi I was so interested to read your post. I am convinced my tv makes my tinnitus worse and was thinking of just replacing it. My daughter tried all the techniques suggested online to reduce any humming or buzzing noise but it didn’t help me. She couldn’t hear anything abnormal but as a Tinnitus sufferer, since Covid, watching my tv spikes my tinnitus terribly. I might try the sound bar idea before a costly tv replacement . Please let me know how you get on . Just out of interest what make is your tv ? Mine is an LG and around 2yrs old.
