Inside the ear hearing aids

Hi

Can I just ask what anyone thinks about the Phonak inside the ear hearing aids . I have moderate hearing loss & have worn these for 3 years without any issues but since starting with T 9 weeks ago it’s making me question whether they are the right hearing aids for me, I have a private audiologist who says they are fine & don’t cause T but not sure if this is correct & may seek 2nd opinion . Does anyone else have these ?

Hi YogachampI have IIC hearing aides but not Phonak, I am aware of the noise generated from one of the aids but it doesn’t add to tinnitus, in fact the aids do help.

I am always aware of wearing my aids, not that there is discomfort but they definitely do not cause additional tinnitus issues for me. I hope you get the problem resolved soon.

Hi Thank you for this reply & yes mine do seem to help I was just worried they may harm my ears but I suppose even any hearing aids involve wearing something inside the ear . I am hoping I either habituate to this sudden T or it just goes away , I’m under a lot of stress at the moment so could be that. Hope your OK too.

Hi Yogachamp

Provided that your audiologist has programmed the hearing aids correctly for your individual hearing profile - and having sat in on some audiology training recently, this is a point which is emphasized to audiology students in their introduction to setting up new devices.

I don't feel that you would be at risk from them causing damage to your ear or worsening tinnitus given the importance that's given to safe fitting and monitoring of ear aids and having an individualized fit.

With best wishes

Thank you I know he is a good audiologist , I never had Tinnitus until 9 weeks ago it came on suddenly after my 2nd vaccine but I had also banged my head so don’t know which if these caused it .

And indeed T can start - or even go away - for no reason one can fathom!

I know it’s unbelievable that there is no help so we have to try use all our strength to over come it until it settles down , try some meditation & relaxation . We have to train our brains to ignore it. Good luck
