Caffeine isn't thought to have much, if any relationship to tinnitus, beyond the effect that stimulants already have on our body.

Alcohol in moderation isn't felt to have an effect either.

Our guidance has been recently updated and you can find it here - tinnitus.org.uk/food-drink-...

I used to be tee total but I like a drop now. It doesn't have any ill effects on my T . If anything it helps me relax which is always good news.

Obviously can only speak for myself but I do notice that having a couple of drinks usually reduces the volume of my t. Sadly though as I have rls too I can't indulge that often as it can have an adverse reaction on my legs

Too much alcohol definitely makes my T worse 😔

I don't think caffeine affects my T but alcohol does seem to reduce it and/or make me less aware of it. I only ever have alcohol in moderation though.

Hi, I enjoy having a few drinks with family and friends as it helps to take your mind off the tinnitus, but if you have too much a hangover and tinnitus together is not good for me.

Caffeine is the one thing i know that makes my T much worse if i drink a can of coke i will have a spike for about 3 days i drink decaf tea now when it comes to alcohol if my fluttering tinnitus is playing up and i drink alcohol it sends my fluttering in to orbit its horrible if my fluttering is not there then i am ok i can drink my lager because it does not effect my other Tinnitus

Just a last not if your T is low as mine was for 22 years then nothing should bother your T iv found it only becomes a problem when it becomes louder thats from my experience any way.

Hi, alcohol yes it makes it far worse, tea or coffee isn’t noticeable.

Tiredness and stress and far the worst for me.

Alcohol lowers my T, caffeine I don’t really notice a difference with or without. Low pressure weather systems like thunderstorms or heavy rain — spike it.

Alcohol and caffeine makes mine worse, yesterday I had a lager and a white wine and my hissing was crazzzy

Like most things tinnitus it seems to depend on the individual. For me neither seems to make a difference. I drink some caffeine every day, usually as coffee, but rarely drink alcohol. When I do I notice no difference.

Yes…. 💯… alcohol effects the inner ear. The Anxiety alcohol causes the next day self perpetuates.

At the time of Consuming, it may break the loop of Woosh.. but there’s a price.

I try to cut caffeine down but I do enjoy a daily latte. I don't drink- apart from very occasionally- as I get vertigo so alcohol makes me feel a bit dizzy. I have a general state of disequilibrium so not a good idea for me. I don't think there's a direct correlation with tinnitus though probably large amounts, like anything, are bound to have an impact. For me, stress and lack of sleep have a direct affect and can dial up the tinnitus. If I'm well rested, I feel ok. Good discussion. xx
