Me too, I have mine left ear for 3 years. Sometimes can forget it other times no. Sure more long term sufferers will be able to give you some suggestions to help. I am still in the learning stage so won't be much use. BTW have you had yourself checked out by ENT Dr?
Thanks sadly though ENT just forget you & let you get on with it
Hello Rochey52. When it gets louder it’s hard, isn’t it! I imagine from what you say that you were not much affected by T before, so I think I can reassure you that it will fade away a bit again: what we refer to as habituation. There are several people on this forum who are sympathetic having been through it all themselves, so if you want to pose a particular question feel free and someone will have a relevant comment to make.
In the meantime time, I don’t know if you are familiar with the British tinnitus Association. There ‘Take on Tinnitus’ on their website is well worth going through.
For me when I had T I realised I was either fighting it or constantly trying to ignore, for me I reflected on this and realised by doing either of these two actions I was actually constantly thinking about it. I habituated when I 'accepted' I had my T, I could only get to this point by practicing distraction and positive behavioral techniques which allowed me to get some distance between how I felt and thought about my T. By doing these techniques it allowed me to desentise my T and take its power away. Please have a look at the BTA website (and as suggested by HappyRosie especially Take on Tinntus) as there are a lot excellent resources about these techniques (sound therapy, stress management, etc.).
