I had to turn off an intruder alarm yesterday at work. It was very loud and I was under it for at least 3 to 4 minutes. It caused a spike in the T although similar level to what it was before the alarm incident. Does this level of noise for a few minutes cause damage or will it settle again?

Not surprising, Pink, that the T has increased in volume - the stress of sorting out the alarm is enough to give the T a real boost!
It should go down in volume when you are calm - breathing exercises and so on (as shown in the British Tinnitus Association website) are the way to go.
All the best
Hi Pink. There's a page on the BTA website - Noise & the ear - with a chart of sounds and how long it's safe to listen to them without ear protection. An industrial fire alarm is 97 decibels which is safe for 30 minutes. Hopefully your T will settle very soon.
Thank you doglover. That's music to my ears to to know that
