This will probably seem like a stupid post but it just shows how scared I am. I’ve developed an infection and have felt really pauly for the past 4 days. The doctors have said I need antibiotics which I had delivered yesterday but I can’t bring myself to take them. I had an ear upset this year with new medication which I stopped after 2 tablets and thank goodness it settled.
What has anyone else done in this situation.?
Thanks

There are no stupid posts - if something is worrying you, it's a valid concern. We can't give you direct medical advice unfortunately, so if you have specific concerns about the medication you've been prescribed, it's always the best idea to raise these with your GP.
In terms of the specific concern you've raised, if you've been prescribed antibiotics and are reluctant to take them, what's the reason for this? Is it a specific ear condition that you are being treated for or something else? Are you worried about the medication, the tinnitus or some combination of the two?
I hope that you're able to get back to us - we can provide you with support and general advice and we're more than happy to do so.
Georgia, I do hope you are feeling better. If it helps, This is my story. I have had antibiotics for various things over the years (cystitis, tooth ulcer etc) and it has made not the slightest difference to the T. Except, when I am feeling poorly the T is worse, and when I have recovered again the T isn’t so loud.
Thanks for the reply. In the end the decision was out of my hands because I was taken into hospital with a obstruction in my airway. Frightening experience. It helps reading other people’s experiences so thanks for taking the time to reply
Georgia I know exactly how you feel - I`ve been there many times worrying that something will make my tinnitus worse.
In the end it has to be you who makes the decision but sometimes we just have to go for it, think positive and believe that what we`re doing is for the best.
From what you`ve said it sounds like you do really need those antibiotics.
Hi LynneSo the decision was taken out of my hands, with me ending up in hospital . I’ve never minded before about taking meds but with the T it’s always my first consideration. anyway thanks for replying, much appreciated
Sorry to hear you ended up in the hospital. Hope you`re starting to feel better now.
I know what you mean about medication and tinnitus - I think sometimes we think too much about things but who can blame us when we have to put up with this racket all the time.
