Face shields and masks

I work as a classroom support worker with tinnitus and mild hearing loss. I wear hearing aids and the face mask (as in cloth covering the nose and mouth) is bad enough, but exempt from the classroom. Now it appears I may have to start wearing a face shield (as in, curved plastic over the face) in the classroom. On a few occasions, where I've had to wear a face shield, I have found my hearing is surprisingly impeded due to the shield preventing direct sound and increasing background noise.

I'm sure asking everyone to wear clear face masks is not practical. What experiences have you had? Have you overcome this?

I work as a street sweeper with my local council and have to wear those annoying paper face masks as I have two hearing aids these masks are forever getting tangled up with the tubing for my hearing aids the masks have resulted in my hearing aids falling out and being damaged having bad tinnitus and parcial hearing loss I have to wear them just hoping my employers don't bring in face shields the masks are giving me enough grief

Yes, not forgetting the tangled hearing aids and steamed up glasses. Luckily I have contact lenses, but I need a break from then now and then.

Hello,

If you look on Amazon, or eBay, there are plastic type hooks that you attach the cloth masks to, they are very good, then the mask goes round the back of your head or neck, I have this, much better than trying to put on a mask with hearing aids, hope this helps,

Anne

Hello,

Would you be able to wear a mask that was see through that you could attach a plastic hook to the strings, has different hook for the length, or to make it shorter, goes round the back or your head, or neck, I'm sure you can buy plastic see- through masks on Amazon,

Anne

I will look at face masks with straps that avoid the ear though. Students are not required to wear them in the classroom, so masks are not often a problem (it's only me protecting them - yep, I know). The main problem (for me) is the face shield and the way they direct/redirect sound.
