Definitely in my case. Almost five years ago I suffered hearing loss following a virus so I can now hear sounds inside my body. Hearing aids help because there are outside sounds coming in which mask the internal sounds.

I have hissing, humming and also I can hear my heartbeat and circulation.

However I`m now at a point where these noises don`t really bother me but I wouldn`t like to be without my hearing aids.

Hi .😊

Yes there is people like Lynne-H who have hearing loss due to the assistance of Tinnitus and the best way to treat it to try prevent both the hearing loss and Tinnitus from getting worse is to wear the hearing aids. Try doing it for a week 3 Hours a Day and then the next week 4 hours for 2 weeks and increase it then the following week. This is what's suggested to me by my audiology specialist because I just couldn't wear the hearing aids they were driving me nuts. And I must admit that since doing what was recommended my Tinnitus that was every few hours and lasting almost an hour was staring to decrease and I'm just praying now it's stopping my hearing loss from getting worse since wearing the hearing aids

I hope this is of help to you. Be well and keep strong 🤗

Hi there,

I have hissing head tinnitus. Can mostly tune it out however it is blaring in silence. Had my one and only Adult NHS hearing test and to my surprise was told I had better than average hearing for my age (49).

My T is high frequency though so perhaps some loss high up that isn't picked up in a routine test.

Definitely easier to cope with if other sounds are ongoing around me so I try my best to avoid total silence.

I also have hissing T and above average hearing. When I was tested last year, the audiologist said he thought my actual hearing was still good, but my T was blocking some frequencies, which has effectively reduced my hearing - I find phone conversations can be tricky, for example.

I do confuse the S sound sometimes, particularly with high pitched female voices. We are outdoors a lot in the summer and strangely I can hear crickets and certain higher bird song before any of the family, including the kids, can. Weird things ears!

I have an app called White Noise on my phone - gives masking sounds at different frequencies to choose from. If my T is loud enough to stop me sleeping, I play the pink noise track, which covers my high frequency hissing and helps me drop off. If I listen to music or an audiobook, I tend to wake up again when it finishes...
