Tinnitus?

Hi folks,

New to this community, but wanted to get an opion.

2 weeks ago i had no problems with my ears, but my GP gave me steroid nasal spray for a cough i had. after 2 days i had a very sore throat which spread to my ears. next day an horrendous cold developed, which meant I was constantly blowing my nose.

The cold is better now, but I now have persistant hissing in my ears. Difficult sleeping or concentrating on anything. I know you're not GP's, but do you think this could be the start of Tinnitus or maybe an ear infection?

Thanks in advance,

Glynne.

Have patience and wait for the cold to settle down. And Hope for the hissing sound to go away. Can be that the virus as well could have affected your ears. But have patience and hope that this will pass. Try to relax, so things that you love and have background music all the time. Natural sounds, Even At night time, that will not totally cover your sounds.

You will get better xx

Hello and welcome to the British Tinnitus Association forum.

Tinnitus often pops up when you're a bit congested from a cold or infection, and generally clears up as the infection goes - sometimes there's a bit of time lag, which is frustrating!

Our website has some suggestions for managing in the meantime - you might like to check out tinnitus.org.uk

Warmest wishes

Hi Nic, thanks for your welcome.

I saw the GP yesterday. The olive oil drops she gave me have removed all the wax and she says the ear drum was fine, but still got the hissing after 3 weeks. Started with a cold.

She's referring me to ENT but she says it could be some time. (gloom).

I'm hoping this will go away as quickly as it arrived.(fingers crossed).

Regards,

Glynne.
