I believe health forums like this are great for people new to a condition and need to feel they are not struggling on their own. However there is the danger over time that people start to become despondent due to the large number of negative posts.
I was wondering whether it would be helpful to keep ‘Success Stories’ in a separate place so that those who are starting to move on can skip the negativity if they wish to do so. Any thoughts on this?
Success stories were one of the main things that kept me going during the dark days at the beginning of my tinnitus. I am a member of the BTA so received the Quiet Magazine and I would read and re-read the success stories over and over again. They gave me hope !!
Also going to our support group helped - seeing others who were living with their tinnitus and still enjoying life.
I agree - when I first acquired tinnitus there were other forums that made me despair even more. Thank heavens that I found the BTA and its forum. Your posts, and that of others who had habituated were what kept me hopeful for my future. But, this forum perhaps needs those of us who have habituated to be there to support the newbies. Angela xx
