Bad hearing in left ear
Hi James. You should pay a visit to your GP who will check your ears for wax build up and any signs of infection. He/she may well arrange for you to visit ENT for a hearing test.

For info. I have had similar issues over the course of the last 6 months. If you suspect you have this then it is a medical emergency.
The doctor said it was access earwax and needed syringing in a week if it hasn’t cleared up I have no idea if I have SSHL but it keeps happening randomly for years
My mums a bank nurse and said it’s not SSHL as doctor would have spotted it not that I’m saying you are wrong
its a bit alarming when this sudden hearing loss occurs - i had same a few weeks back ... I suffer tinnitus and a degree of hearing loss so now have hearing aids which di help the hearing but stir up the tinnitus quite a bit. My left ear SHLL only lasted a few hours thank goodness - was watching quite an emotional tv prog plus it was pretty warm in our sitting room with a good log fire so I wonder if that might have had a bearing on it - well relieved when it cam back that soon!
Trust yours makes a good recovery too.
Hello and welcome to the British Tinnitus Association forum. Do feel free to ask any questions, I hope that you find this a helpful and supportive place to help you manage your tinnitus.
Ear wax can cause hearing loss - been there, done that, got the t-shirt, but it is always wise to check out any sudden hearing loss.

I have found out I need a hearing aid in left ear and now I’m struggling to hear as my hearing aid seems to block signals to my other ear or hurts my ear or keeps falling out and found it hard to sleep last night cause of it which is causing serious panic and physical problems like dioheeria however you spell it
