Shrill Ringing in Left Ear

Greetings, I am brand new. Have had a form of tinnitus for some time - low, constant whining which I was able to ignore. But suddenly have developed ringing in my left ear which, due to its intermittent nature, seems impossible to ignore. It also seems to have different modes ranging from a metallic chirping sound, to a morse-code like sound, to a tone which locks in and wonʻt stop until I either press on my ear or open my jaw. These modes seem responsive to environmental stimuli (sounds I hear or movements such as swallowing) so that I am always perceiving different chirps.

My physician has me signed up for a number of tests - hearing is good, CT scan was fine. MRI is coming up.

I am quite frightened by this whole thing and would appreciate any advice from the community.

Hello, I can't really give you any advice as your T sounds quite complex, but if you read my post to Dean you will see how I have managed my loud intrusive constant T.

I hope you are able to find a something that will be of help to you, but in the meantime read the positive stories and stay positive yourself. It sounds trite but it definitely helps.

Take care, C

The actual sounds you perceive are generally irrelevant - it's just your brain making stuff up. It sounds like you have somatic tinnitus, so there is a very faint glimmer of hope on the horizon; healthunlocked.com/bta/post...
