Thankyou for your reply .Dr gave me sertraline but I'm sure it's made my pulsatile tinnitus worse and I now have ringing in both ears .just wondered if anyone else had same problem..

Hi Valient. A few weeks ago I was prescribed amytriptyline by the hearing consultant I saw at the hospital and I am about to start another three week course. I don't think it has a direct effect on my tinnitus as such but I am sure it helps calm the nervous system down and lets me get a full nights sleep. Maybe it's worth asking your doctor if you could change to something else and see if it makes a difference. God luck.

Hi yes I was on Amytriptyline which I liked but doctor put me on sertraline last week which I'm sure has made noise worse so I've took myself off .thank you for reply.

I was on Amatriptalin for a while before Habituation and I found in it wonderful relief and calmness at the early stages of Tinnitus and Hyperacusis. Of course, we are all different and respond differently to Antidepressants.

I am sorry to hear they made your Tinnitus louder and I hope it will quieten down for you.

Best Wishes.

Some people find Amatriptyline life changing according to a recent article in the Daily Mail health section. It has a good reputation compared to other sedatives.

Enjoy !

Hii, I take antidepressants but have for many years so am unsure if they make worse, unlikely really, try not to look into things too much, I'm finding my depression harder than Tinnitus at the moment.
