Hi all, I just wondered if anyone else has eczema in their ears? I have it really bad,I don't scratch my ears if I can avoid it and moisturize regularly, I have noted that my T gets a lot worse when I have a flare up of eczema, could there be a connection?

Hello DB53,
I have had itchy ears for many years, long before I got T.
The cause of mine is shampoo etc., going in my ears when washing my hair. My aunts had the same problem till I told her it could be being caused by shampoo irritating her ears.
Might not be the case with you, but just thought I'd tell you in case it could be of help.
Take care,
C xx
Often when we're feeling run down or our health is affected, tinnitus can flare up. It sounds as if this could be the case with you - does your tinnitus subside when your eczema improves?

Hi there,
I've had itchy ears for years ( in the family ) ,unfortunately I've also picked them for years !! Last month I went to my Gp as my ears were sore and my hearing had become distorted ( right ear has no low tone anyway ) in my good ear , i could hear a new tinnitus, like a car idling 24/7 . She informed me I had a perforated eardrum, probably through picking . I had antibiotic drops and a nasal spray ,such a relief,my ears have calmed down ,I left it too long before getting help this time . I do believe years of scratching has definitely been a contributor to my deafness and constant tinnitus and balance issues. So the moral in my story ,' Don't pick your ears !!'
Hi all, sorry I haven't been online for a while.I live on an Island and we get lot's of power cuts this time of year, plus the internet gets disrupted. My T is really bad just now, wind and rumbling seas make it worse,I can't really complain as there is very little traffic noise where I live, just the sea!it gets really rough and sounds like a dozen washing machines spinning.I have lived in cities,on balance the sea is far better than the noise pollution on the mainland.thankyou for the replies about eczema,i cover my ears when i shower/wash my hair.if my ears get bad i sometimes put olive oil in them,it's great for getting stubborn wax out,and an excellent moisturizer, thanks to my grandma for that tip.I also try to never ever use cotton buds, they can damage ears as they are very abrasive, soft tissue or cotton wool soaked in oil or a good unscented moisturizer. I do not have eczema in my ears, but I do have it elsewhere (arms, back chest...) My eczema is cyclical, every monty or so I'll get a really bad spell. This started about 4 years ago after a reaction to the contrast agent in a CT scan. A day or so after the scan, I got vertigo which lasted about 2 days, and then this cyclical eczema which bothers me to this day. The vertigo has not reappeared.
I noticed several months ago, that as a precursor to the onset of a series eczema outbreak, I will get tinnitus. I had not had tinnitus that I noticed before. I did a google search on "tinnitus" and "eczema", and your post was one of the first hits.
