Does anyone else find they are physically exhausted dealing with tinnitus/Hyperacusis ? I am absolutely knackered some days dealing with this. I understand it can be stressful for some but I feel worn out at times trying to manage this. Maybe because our auditory systems are overloaded then our brains just get fatigued ? It's hard. Very very hard.😡

Yes Andy, I do believe that having to tame my T tires me out. All that energy needed to distract ourselves. Although I am now sleeping well, I am still more tired than I ever was! Perhaps our brains never get rested even whilst we sleep. Love and best wishes, Angela xx
Hello Andy,
I know the feeling. It is a constant battle just trying to live with it. I usually go for the distraction technique. This takes a lot of energy. If I give my brain down time then T takes this opportunity to shout and make itself the centre of attention.
I suppose it is Ok if you can sleep and recharge your batteries, I feel sorry for the insomniacs who don't get to do this.
Kind regards
Ade
I agree totally . I have just answered a questionnaire about the extent to which I am annoyed with my tinnitus , and we are often asked about fear of tinnitus , and anxiety. I am none of these , I am just PLAIN EXHAUSTED with it , as others have said trying to distract , not being able to relax and when sleeping waking every 2 hours ( it's fascinating actually - it's 2 hours and 4 hours and the 6 hours from when I last look at my alarm clock ) . Our body's need to ' rejuvenate'- not quite the Dr who version , but crucial to cope with day to day demands , let alone the managing teh tinnitus as well.
Hi Andy, yes I do too often feel exhausted from dealing with the T and H . Navigating through the day, trying to continually distract and following very little quality sleep is exhausting. I'm currently not working at the moment yet feel tired so have put it down to this rather than beat myself up like I was at first. I hope you get enough quality sleep to give you the energy and focus and can better handle during the day. I've just started on some meds for this so here's hoping.
I know what you mean about being exhausted trying to deal with tinnitus. Although i am sleeping much better now than i was, i don't wake up feeling as refreshed as i used to before i got T. So it must play a part in disturbing the natural cycle of sleep even if we dont consciously realise this.
Trying to keep yourself busy is sometimes hard to do when you feel knackered. I do make myself have days when i dont do much even if that means Im more aware of my T. I get through most of the day then by early evening Ive had enough of listening to it and put on the white noise app to give me something more pleasant to listen too. Though this is usually only once a week as the rest of the time, I keep myself busy either at home or at work. But if non tinnys realised what we have to do just to get by each day maybe they would show a bit more understanding of our condition.
Hope the meds are helping you to get some sleep.
