Three months now and my sleep still is not any better. Only getting about 5 hours per night. White noise does not work for me. Trying to stay away from the hard core sleep meds. Looking for help with this issue.
Sleep : Three months now and my sleep still is... - Tinnitus UK
Sleep
Melatonin can help or a low dose antidepresant for insomnia or Tinnitus to help sleep through the night.
Love glynis
I must confess, the first few weeks I was getting 2-3 hours. Doctor put me on 35mg of amitriptyline and told me to take them 1-2 hours before bed.
White noise sometimes distracted the T but now I listen to alternative white noises just to keep my brain working.
Speak to your doctor and try everything, hopefully you'll soon find something to suit you.
Goid luck
Ive had T for a 18months and like u struggled to sleep but overcame it by listening to audio books from a cheap mp3 player and a sleep headband (search ebay or amazon for sleep headphone/headband) now sleep better than i ever have...btw never make it through more than 3 pages b4 nodding off so it takes a months to finish a book hope this helps.
White noise isn't for everyone - I find it quite harsh and something like seashore sounds is better. Audio books are good - classics I've read before so I don't stay awake for the next twist! I also work on my "triggers" - so my body knows if I put my phone down and take my glasses off, it's time to sleep, for example.
A doctor recommended a sedating anti-histamine too - it makes me drowsy enough to switch my brain off a bit, but not as dopey as heavy duty meds do, and it's not habit forming. Talk to your GP or pharmacist to see what they suggest.
(Note - responding in my personal capacity, not the BTA, and I'm not medically or pharmacy qualified!)

My Doctor is asking me to see a Psychologist. I'm being told that I need to learn how to relax. Can they help? I'm also asked to take B-12. 1000 mcg per day. Has anyone taken B-12 and does it help?
