Operation: I am due to have an operation shortly... - Tinnitus UK
Operation

I had an operation about 18 months ago and I had similar concerns beforehand. My T was completely unaffected. Hope all goes well for you.
Many thanks for such a swift reply. I had pre op tests today and the nurse I saw said it could leave an effect as I would be giddy after anaesthetic. Other nurse was quick to say it wouldn't. I hadn't thought it would so was a bit perturbed. I feel happier have heard from you.
I hope that the operation went well, sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
There's no evidence that anaesthetics aggravate tinnitus, but some evidence that lidocaine (for example) can be helpful. Sadly, it's too risky to prescribe it to sufferers.
Best wishes

Many thanks. Operatiin not till end July. But has preop assessment last week. I asked supervisory nurse if it would have effect and was surprised when he said yes, though other nurse said no. He then said it would nt last. Felt better hearing from you and another kind person.
I went on fine having my gallbladder out a few months back and no spike in tinnitus.
Good luck and let us know how it goes...
Love glynis

Glynis.. Thanks for your advice. Operation was postponed to end of October and sadly didn't work having tests done and new op in March? Big problem with recurring infection and with which antibiotics I can take.
