Tinnitus is getting worse! Help!
Hi contra21, welcome to this forum. When I got tinnitus I firstly saw my GP who prescribed sleeping pills to help me sleep. I then saw an Ent consultant who referred me to his audiologist department (NHS local hospital). I had a hearing test and was given a hearing aid and a masker for the good ear. I was also prescribed anti anxiety tablets by my GP to help calm me down. I joined the BTA and bought a sound oasis machine which has many natural sounds to help you sleep. The BTA offers very good advice on its website. I went for Cbt counselling and over the past 2 years my T has calmed down. Have you seen your GP yet? It is all about very small steps and will take time to deal with it.
There are many posts on here which I hope can help you. Love and best wishes, Angela xx
Do you know how you got yours and are there any ateos to get rid if it?
Tinnitus happened to me exactly 24 hrs after my hysterectomy and bladder prolapse was completed. I had 6 months of hell after that. But, with the above mentioned meds, counselling and taking all the advice offered on the BTA website and forum I slowly began to habituated. It has now been just over 2 years. It is still there but I have days or hours when I don't hear it and when I do hear it, it is mostly quiet. I believe that my hearing aid and masker are the main reasons that my T has receded. I hope the audiologist can help you along this route. From my experience with chiropractors, they will tell you what you want to hear and take money from you for temporary relief from ailments. My journey has been so lobg. Afyer the vertigo i had vestibular rehab for 7.months . Saw 2 ents. 1 oto neurologist and 1 neurologist and 2 audiologist sayunf ut was just boov and one saying they were vestibular mugraine and just have to live with the tinnitus. Im going next week to do hearing tests again as my balance never went back to normal and i get dizzies in my sleep. I see a chiropractor thay says my nervous system is depleted and he does epleys on me but this condition whatever it is will not leave me.
