Hi everyone, my name is Pete, i am 72 years of age and i live in Bristol with my wife of 50 years who also is 72. We both have Tinnitus and we have had it for a considerable amount of time and we both are hard of hearing and wear aids. I am very pleased to meet you all and i look forward to getting to know you all.
welcome to this forum which is now hosting the tinnitus section for the BTA.
Sorry that both you and your wife suffer from tinnitus but at least you both know what each other is going through and that in itself is a help.
Of course as we get older we get age related hearing loss which is a double whammy for tinnitus sufferers because it blocks out environmental background noises, this in turn increases your perception of tinnitus.
My tinnitus is bilateral and I wouldn't be without my hearing aids, they certainly reduce the level of my tinnitus, but only if I listen!
Thankyou Jim for your reply, i am very pleased to meet you.

Hi Glynis, thankyou sincerely for your welcome. In the past i have been helped considerably by the BTA meetings that i went to in Bristol and by sites like this. I hope that i can indeed be of help to others who suffer with this terrible condition by giving of my experiences.
