I've just discovered this could be a symptom of an underactive thyroid. I was diagnosed three years ago at the age of 24 and have had this problem a while......
Does anyone find they have irregular bleeding b... - Thyroid UK
Does anyone find they have irregular bleeding between periods? Or bleeding when they shouldn't have it at all?
I used to get this when i had a huge fibroid - it got progressively worse until it became heavy bleeding daily that required multiple blood transfusions
Another time, when my thyroid health was being mismanaged buy the nhs (undermedicated), i started getting irregular bleeding. It took several months, but once i started managing my own health and switched to ndt, periods went back to normal.
You are right that it is linked to hypoT
What is ndt? I've had investigation from the hospital and they blamed the fact I have pcos, I take the pill every day without fail and also have the implant so really should have no bleeding at all! It's getting quite irritating as it's been happening on and off for over a year and no further forward, had no clue until today the two could be linked. Thanks
Yes, i used to have that problem- a hypoT symptom definitely.
I've had problems with my periods since i was 12 years old, I still have problems now. My periods are always every 2 weeks sometimes for 2 weeks at a time and the odd days in between. At 24 years old i was told that i had prolems with my hormones but nothing was mentioned about which hormones, i was also told that i had endometriosis but it wasn't too serious but i might never have kids, however they did say that if i had a child it could cure my menstral problems Haha! (after 2 years of trying i had 1) unfortunately i couldn't have any more. I still have problems only now I haven't had a period in 3 months.
I was on a week and off a week when I first started to have HYPERthyroid problems. Was immediately put on the pill (which was a high dose one in mid-60's) which just covered up the problem for a few years.
