Levothyroxine and Carbamezapine

I have been taking Levo for many years ad 9 years ago thryoid removed so imperative I get right dose, which seems to be so until last september when new GP decided 200mg a day was too much and took me down to 125 before I was really very ill. I am now cfreeping back up to original dose thanks to inetrvention of senior partner, Although starting to feel better I now have to take Carbamezapine as focal epilipsy following brain tumour removal. Does anyone else have this combination of meds and if so when do you take them and have they made a difference to both conditions ( good or bad)

The British National Formulary has this specific interaction information:

Thyroid Hormones

carbamazepine accelerates metabolism of thyroid hormones (may increase requirements for thyroid hormones in hypothyroidism)

And Thyroid Manager says:

b. Displace T4 and T3 from binding proteins

Furosemide, salicylates, henytoin, carbamazepine,meclofenamante, Heparin

(You have to register in order to be able to view BNF pages.)

Not quite what you asked, but (hopefully) might help.
